Thank you so much for taking the time to lock in your photoshoot with me! I'm so excited to get to know you better and capture some amazing memories for you!
Let me give you confidence by saying first of all that your session is going to be amazing!!
Sometimes about 99% of the time the first 10 minutes of any photoshoot can feel uncomfortable, especially if you haven’t done a session before, until you relax into it and feel confident in front of the camera!
Come relaxed. Have the mindset that you are gonna rock this session. If you can, take the morning off to have some fun family time! Shake off the nerves and anxiousness.
Trust in the fact that I do this every day. I'll always prompt and direct you and never ask you to do something that feels wrong or awkward or leave you hanging with no idea what you should be doing next. I promise it will be fun and by the end of the session you'll be totally relaxed and having fun. The objective isn’t just to take pretty pictures, but to capture this exciting stage in your life, exactly as it is now.
I will be here every step of the way to help guide you!
Here are a few tips for before your session!
1.
Connect on the day: Relax, unwind, choose to do what you love on the day of your shoot. There’s nothing worse than arriving at a shoot absolutely frazzled and rushed and disconnected. If you’re able to take the time off, do it. Give yourself lots of time to get to the location so you don’t feel stressed on arrival.
2.
Dress like yourself: Wear something you feel awesome and beautiful in. Ensure it's an outfit you’ve worn before, and you know it’s comfortable. Avoid big patterns, logos, or bright colors. Aim for earthy tones, natural fabrics, and clothing with lots of movement.
3.
Have zero expectations: Embrace what comes, the wind, the rain, the laughter, whatever unfolds. Every shoot is unique, and we have no set pattern. It’s all about YOU and capturing your life exactly how it is on the day of your shoot. I can’t give you any guarantees of what we will capture, let’s see what magic happens on the day.
Tips for your family with little ones
1.
Let’s avoid saying things like “we are getting your photos done and you better smile or else!” “If you smile big we will get you candy!” Bribery can be good but let’s go into this photoshoot with positive mindset that we may not even need bribery.
Before the session start talking to the kids about the upcoming experience. “Today is a going to be a very fun day! We get to visit somewhere new to explore! We are going to wear some cute clothes, and someone is going to be there to take photos our photos. Then later you can pick which one we send to grandma (or their favorite person).” Or which one they want to pick to put in their room and things like that.
2.
I know the go to pose would be: “look at the camera and smile.” and this doesn’t always go as planned so let’s embrace whatever the wind throws at us. Kids want to run? Alright! Let’s play tag!
Let’s avoid pointing at the camera and telling the kids to look and smile, I know this is instinct. Instead let’s say things like “silly monkey!” tickle and pose. “Hello mickey!” Something to get some natural smiles.
If you just start laughing, most of times natural laughter comes after the fake laughing lol!
kids are gonna be kids. they do better when we let them play
